Rottnest Island Shipwreck Trail (Annual)

MAAWA played a central role in the creation of the Rottnest Island shipwreck trail (being the first of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere!). In a collaborative venture with the Maritime Archaeology Department of the Western Australian Museum (MADWAM), plaques were placed on shipwrecks around Rottnest Island and the trail was established 1981. To this day, one of the regular tasks conducted by MAAWA is the maintenance of these underwater plaques.
